What is HackUConn?

It is a 24-hr event where people come together to work on an idea around specific pain points in an industry or for fun! People present these ideas at the end of the event for prizes!

Can I attend?

Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to attend

Where is it?

HackUConn 2018 will take place in Werth Tower 1st floor (former NextGen Building)

Do I need a team?

It is not necessary to arrive at the hackathon with a team. Most participants arrive as individuals and form teams with others they meet at the event. You may also work alone but take note that most winners are teams with diverse skill sets.

Will you provide travel reimbursements?

Unfortunately, we will not provide any travel reimbursements this year.

Do I need to major in computer science to apply?

This event is open to all majors! It is encouraged that your team have a multidisciplinary team.

What should I bring?

Your laptop, charger, and sleeping bag if you plan on staying the night. We will have air mattresses available on a first come first serve basis.

Is the event free?

Yes!

Where can I find the schedule of the event?

The most up to date schedule can be found on the homepage. The final schedule will be posted the day of the event.

What prototyping materials are provided?

A full list of equipment will be posted the day of the event. But you can expect there will be Arduinos, Legos, crafting supplies, and you will also have access to laser cutters and 3D printers

What other resources are provided?

There is a wealth of intellectual prowess at the hackathon, and we encourage participants to seek advice and guidance from the mentors, speakers, and organizers who will be available throughout the weekend as you develop your solution and final presentation pitch. The mentors, speakers, and organizers have diverse backgrounds ranging from healthcare, business, entrepreneurship, engineering, software and app development, marketing and design, and regulatory.

Are teams expected to continue after?

We encourage teams to continue working even after the hackathon and have programs and resources to help you take what you’ve done to the next level, but ultimately the decision is completely up to you and your team whether you wish to continue.
